Saturday night was our second Come Dine / Wine With Me event and it was just fabulous, amazing… the whole evening, food, theme, props, host and laughter!
As with our previous Come Dine With Me back in the Summer we did not really know any details of the evening, food or theme. All we knew was no jeans, no trainers and dress as if you were going out for the evening. So it was certainly a shock to us all when our host opened the door in her Vegas outfit announcing “Welcome to Vegas” with Viva Las Vegas playing in the background. It was just like the TV programme!
Naturally bubbles were served but with a twist of mixed berries, umbrellas and sparkles along with olives and nibbles.
To start brioche with mozzarella and tomato dressed with balsamic vinegar and pine nuts – a perfect starter nice and light but tasty.
The main course was St Lucia themed, very drunken Jerk chicken with corn on the cob, rice and green salad with pomegranate. It was all delicious and the chicken just fell apart, perfectly cooked.

Dessert was replaced with Taboo laced fruit punch and some crazy dancing, including rapping and I’m sure I remember us all trying to learn to dance to Thriller!
The evening was filled with fun, food and laughter. However what touched me the most about this evening was the thought and emotion that went into the whole event and every aspect of the food, drinks and decoration. I know the themes of Vegas and St Lucia were very personal to the host and this made the evening even more special and memorable. So thank you to our amazing and special Vegas theme host.
Oh and if we were scoring – the evening was a 10 for me, it was just what I needed pure fun and laughter with great food, bubbles and company; our Come Dine/Wine With Me group is really a great bunch of girls who I love spending time with.
