I know my blog is about food (and sometimes the wine which accompanies it) but this one is a bit different and is about running with a hint of food and drink – just because I am so proud of myself!
Those of you who know me know that about 12 months ago I took up running just to complete the Bideford 10k. Well I’m still running and LOVING it! This year I am running a series of runs for 2 charities Bliss (for babies born too soon, too small, too sick) and North Devon Chemotherapy Appeal with the support and company of a great friend.
Thursday was my second run, The Exmoor Challenge at West Buckland School. 7.5 miles cross-country, in fact it’s the oldest and longest compulsory school cross-country course in England. And I can confirm it is tough, this was my first cross-country run since secondary school, rather a few more years ago than I care to remember, the weather was very hot and sunny for this time of the year and the course was either up or down hill the whole way. Parents and friends of the school can enter to run with the pupils, and yes the adults do pay (we must be mad) but the money goes to charity this year Devon Air Ambulance.
Thanks for listening

PS I apologise to all those people who are reading this and have heard me speak of nothing but this since Thursday!
PPS Like I said this is one of the runs I am doing for two amazing charities so if you can spare some pennies it will be much appreciated and make the efforts even more special.
